2011 Reunion Comments

Hi Dennis, What a great reunion! I want to thank you for all your publicity efforts to make this a success. I was there for Friday night's gathering and took in the tour of the high school on Saturday. Please add my name to the list of those who came.--- I was shocked to learn of Bill Mancusso's death just a few days later. Bill was a fun guy to be around. ----  The Class of 61 web site keeps us well posted. I know everyone I spoke to appreciates it. Many thanks!

Hi Dennis - just a note to say what a great job you and all the others did on the reunion.   The website is so wonderful and just finished checking it all out again.  Will plan to be at the next one in 5 years and I think I will have to attend both nights!   Missed talking with too many classmates!

Take care,  Winnie Frost Rengstorf

Class of 61 Committee,
Thanks for planning and carrying through on a wonderful 50th reunion!  You did so much to make it a superb success and we truly appreciated it!

Hi, Dennis.    Nice to see everyone.  Again, I want to thank the committee for all of the work done to make the 50th happen.  We went to school with some great people.

Dennis,
It was a great reunion and with very surprising numbers considering everything.  Doesn't it figure out to be about 35% of the living members of the Class of 61 attended this reunion? The time just went so fast, I didn't get to talk to everyone.  I guess you will just have to come to Intl Falls when you get to Kabetogama Lake on your next trip.

Did you see the paint job, which he did himself, on Larry Dixon's late 40's Ford car?  The metal flake paint changes color, as you can see in the two photos.  The car is green in the first photo and brown in the second.  Nice.

Dear Dennis and Reunion committee,
Just a note to say thank you for all that you did to make our 50th so special.  We have enjoyed the website with all those memories and realize how much effort it took to put it all together.
The '61 hits for the class of '61 is a joy and a real "keeper".
Again, thanks for all the caring and effort.
Hope we will all be able to make the 55th.

Received this email from Tom Kantos on 8-25-11:
Had a quad bypass heart surgery nine days ago.  I am very stiff and sore and limited in all things I can do.  Recovery time is long.  Two months of doing nothing is the start of recovery.  Hope to be well by Nov. and back to normal a few months after that.  This was quite a shock to my family and me.

Dear Class Mates,

In spite of the sad state of downtown Hibbing, I enjoyed being back in the Iron Ore Capital after 10 years and - especially - taking part in a most well-organized Class of '61 Reunion. Thanks to a hard-working Committee, who saw to it that everything worked well. So many details had to be prepared, i g the name-tags, the decorations, the Class Booklet. 'Mange tak' to the nine Committee members, Ed being the only man at the hen party. (By the way, when on Fogo Island in Cape Verde a few years ago I happened to find an Italian National Geographic Magazine, which had an article on Hibbing. Ed was interviewed. A small world !)

It was great to meet so many old friends from my classes and extra-curricular sports, but perhaps more to talk to some that I often saw in the halls but never had a chat with way back then.

Students at Hibbing High made it possible for Aladin and me to have a wonderful year on the Range. Thank you - once again !

On Friday night we voted to have a Reunion in 2016 - and I should like to be back ! However, weren't we making demands on a Committee which was already exhausted after a lot of hard labour ?

My registration was sent from the Faroes, where I was working in June, and arrived in Hibbing after Rita's deadline. Sorry, Rita ! Consequently, the Booklet does not have any information about me, but here it is:

I taught pre-university level English, French and Italian until 2005, but still work as an external examiner in the Faroes every year in June.

Free lance tour guide abroad, this year in Catalonia, last year in the south of Germany - and next year in the Faroes.

Active tenor in two choirs.

A bachelor - now inveterately so. I tried cohabitation in the 1980s. No offspring, alas.

The guided tour of our Alma Mater was a very good idea ! Thank you, Dan ! Hoping to see a lot of you in a better-faring Hibbing in 2016, I send you Mange venlige hilsner,

16 August 2011.

Hi:

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the web site.  I am really sorry that I could not make the reunion, but all the pictures really were the best alternative.

We were with one of our son's families and in-laws at a beach house on Frip Island, So. Carolina.  It is hard to pass up time with the grandkids!  They live Statesboro, Ga., so we don't get to see them enough.

Thanks again:

Ev Macy
