Richard L. "Dick" Stanich, 68, lifelong Hibbing resident, died Monday, May 23, 2011, in Fairview-Mesabi Medical Center in Hibbing.

He was born in Hibbing to Louis and Frances (Chopp) Stanich on June 27, 1942, and had been employed with National Steel in the lab and the warehouse.

Dick enjoyed fishing, bocce, curling, and hunting at the six pack shack. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends, as all will attest to who knew him. He will be greatly missed, especially by his grandkids. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish in Hibbing.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Beckie; his son, Rick (Danielle) Stanich of Hermantown; daughter Tracey (Kyle) Witherow of Woodbury, Minn.; his five grandchildren, Kellen, Kyle and Cally Stanich, and Claire and Cole Witherow; sister Dionilla (Frank) Genise of Hibbing; special aunt Marion Newman of Hibbing; and numerous nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 12 noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service Friday, May 27, in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Ryan Moravitz celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kellen Bolander, Kyle Bolander, Dina Stucynski, Jon Genise, Jamie Cooper, Mandy Stirewalt, and Terri Sterle. Honorary pallbearers will be John Maras, Chris Maras, Kristy Renskers, Joanna Maras, and Jennifer Hegland. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home.
